The 21-year-old actor has a hilarious new role in the comedy The Internship!

JJJ caught up with Dylan in between filming to get the scoop on his new movie!

JustJaredJr.com – Dylan O’Brien

JustJaredJr.com: Hi Dylan! So tell us about the audition process for this role.

Dylan O’Brien: It was cool. It was just a regular couple reads, regular audition at first. You go through a casting director and then you get to the directors and producers. And reading with Vince was the highlight of that process. That was the last step. We all got to go in and audition with Vince. He was so cool in the room and so giving. He would just riff with you forever. It was my longest audition I think I ever had. And most of which was all made up. The audition should have only taken five minutes, technically, but then Vince would make it a whole thing and you would just go with him. He’d basically just see if you could hang, kind of. It was cool because a lot of what we said in the audition room made it into the movie and it kind of established our dynamic with them.

JJJ: You’ve been doing comedy back since your YouTube days, but that had to be pretty intimidating.

DO: Well, hell yeah (laughs)! Yeah, I’m comfortable improving, more so than having lines I think. But the Vince factor and just auditioning in general is very nerve-racking. Going into a room, you have like eight people looking at you and you’re sitting there, and you just have to do it. But what was so great was that it was such an awesome room. I was comfortable instantly. Once Vince starts riffing with you, you kind of settle in. The producers were all fun and great too. Everyone was just laughing. It was a lot of fun. Intimidating for maybe like a second, definitely. How could it not be? But then instantly comfortable and just a great time.

JJJ: You play a nice guy in most of your roles. Was it nice to play sort of a jerk in this film?

DO: Yeah, it was so much fun. That was intimidating at first. I was so afraid, like “Oh my God, I don’t know if I’m going to be able to pull this off.” The whole dynamic I established with Vince was that I just this jerk to him. And I was like, “Are people going to buy that?” But yeah, it was so much fun. And he does come around. Vince and Owen’s characters teach him to open up and let his guard down, let loose and have fun for a second and not be so uptight and dismissive of everyone around him.

JJJ: You look pretty good in those hipster glasses! Those were fake, right?

DO: Yeah, they were fake. When we went in for my first fitting, we were just like establishing what was happening and they were giving me this hipster-y vibe, all these layers with cardigans and stuff. I thought it was hilarious. And then so, the glasses for me, were just the classic top-off. I don’t know why, but it just so perfectly put together that sort of hipster-y… like “If I have to wear glasses, I want to make them cool glasses” thing, you know? Shawn [Levy] loved the lgasses too. So from then, we were just full-on with the glasses and the beanie too (laughs).

JJJ: If you could intern anywhere, where would it be?

DO: Google, for sure (laughs). If it’s anything like we shot, that’s the one to do. Just for the sake of answering the question, Google. I have no shot, obviously. But that would be even kind of fun going into with no shot because then it takes all the pressure off and I can just have fun (laughs).

Get Dylan O’Brien’s Interning Tips!

Choose Something You Love!
“Don’t just take an internship because all your friends are doing it or you need to do something during the summer. You have to want it! I’ve seen some of my friends end up miserable at their internships because they have no desire to work at the company. Choose something you genuinely love!”

Intern For Someone You Admire
“In real life, I’d love to intern for a director and see the other side of the industry. My life would be hell, but I’m sure I’d learn so much. I’d be a good way to shadow somebody who knows what they’re doing.”

What To Expect At Google
“Google is a fascinating place to intern. Everyone has their dogs in their offices. They have volleyball courts, bowling allies, and crazy bikes that fit eight people—they have meetings while they ride around!”

ARTICLE: 5 Things to Know About Dylan O’ Brien

Dylan O’Brien is a bit of a newbie in the acting world, nabbing his first big role as Stiles Stilinski on MTV’s Teen Wolf in 2011.

Curious to know more about the MTV star?

Check out these five things to know about Dylan!

5) Dylan grew up in New York City, and later moved to Hermosa Beach, Calif. with his family at the age of 12, according to IMDB. His father is a cinematographer and his mother is a former actress.

4) He’s a budding movie star. After nabbing roles in The First Time, The High Road and The Maze Runner, Dylan is starring in the upcoming comedy flick The Internship with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, and reportedly is in talks to star in the time travel thriller Glimmer, according to Deadline.

3) Before he landed his Teen Wolf starring role, Dylan had a YouTube channel full of videos that he produced. He originally wanted to become a cinematographer and attend film school at Syracuse University.

2) Although he had no intentions of pursuing acting when he produced those videos, his YouTube Channel led him to a role on a web series, and he met an actor on set who sent his videos to a management company. After signing with that company, he eventually nabbed an audition for Teen Wolf, he told Teentelevision.com.

1) He and co-star Tyler Posey are buddies on and off the set and have jam sessions from time to time. Dylan, who told Teentelevision.com music is a “huge part of his life,” grew up playing piano and guitar, but says drums are his main love.

Dylan O’Brien: My ‘Internship’ Experience Is Strip Clubs

Dylan O’Brien took a break from Teen Wolf to take on an internship, and not just any internship, but one with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn.

The 21-year-old actor joined the comedic forces for The Internship, which revolves around two middle-aged men who attempt to prove they’re not obsolete by battling brilliant college students for a chance of an internship at Google.

So we had to ask, has Dylan ever interned in real life?

“No, I haven’t,” the actor laughs. ”I’m just 21 now, so my intern experience was literally shooting this movie, doing all the crazy stuff that we did. So basically like strip clubs and Quidditch, that’s what I think an internship consists of.”

Sounds like more fun than unpaid work to us!
Catch The Internship in theaters this Friday, June 7!

Dylan O’Brien in talks for lead role in ‘Glimmer’

Dylan O’Brien is in talks to star in the feature film Glimmer.

Deadline, who broke the news, says DreamWorks is so interested in giving O’Brien the role that they have committed to a January production date to ensure that the filming doesn’t interfere with any of O’Brien’s other projects. Fans of the young actor are less than surprised by the opportunities presenting themselves to the Teen Wolf star. However, this rapid increase in attention is still something few expected to happen so quickly.

Glimmer is a sci-fi film that follows a group of friends who stumble upon a portal that sends them 30 years into the past. It’s a moderately intriguing plot on the surface, but what is most interesting about the film is the amount of buzz surrounding the script. After undergoing an intense bidding war, DreamWorks finally received the rights to the film. Plus, the film made the 2012 Black List as the 29th most interesting script of the year. This is a prestigious award for any upcoming project.

Previous nominations in Black List included Lars And The Real Girl, Juno, and 500 Days Of Summer, all of which were commercial as well as critically successful films.

O’Brien has his hands full these days. The Teen Wolf star is making an honest effort to branch out and try his hand at other projects. While his television show Teen Wolf is on hiatus, O’Brien is currently filming The Maze Runner – a movie adaptation of the James Dasher young adult novel. His film The Internship, a comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, is set to hit theaters June 7. And now we have been informed that O’Brien is in serious talks to land the lead role in Glimmer.

We will keep you posted as more information is unveiled.

    Thanks, Deadline.

‘Teen Wolf’ S3: 30 reasons why we can’t wait another day

    24. Lots of mystery.

There are so many questions that still need answered from the previous two seasons, let alone what they’re inevitably going to introduce in the third season. But we wouldn’t have it any other way.

It seems like Stiles in particular is going to be pulling some extra weight. It’s been mentioned that he’s going to be a pseudo-detective in season 3, and that he may even be working more closely with his father this year. His room is set up with boards full of clues and a web of information connected every which way. Episodes 2 and 3 in particular will send him into his major arc this year.

    23. Stiles spending more time with his dad.

Speaking of Stiles and his father, we’ve also heard that we’ll be getting more father-son moment this season. Sheriff Stilinski is certainly a fan-favorite character. He’s a great dad, a good officer, and just an all around funny guy. With no one else but each other, it’s going to be nice seeing him and Stiles bonding.

But will that bonding include being let in on the hairy elephant in the room with the big teeth and pointy claws? Who knows. Many fans hope Papa Stilinski will be trusted with that information soon, but that also invariably puts him in more danger. And no one wants to see him killed off, leaving Stiles completely parentless.

    21. Stiles may find love.

And it’s about time, right? Right. But…he may be finding love in all the wrong places. No one ever said the writers didn’t like to torture us.

Stiles will, in fact, be getting closer to some girls other than Lydia this season. But, and here we quote Jeff Davis, “While other teenagers just discover the pain of heartache, Scott and Stiles discover dead bodies.” Of course they do. But besides that, we’re happy Stiles isn’t going to be the guy who is perpetually in love with just one girl. And while we don’t think he’ll ever truly get over Lydia, we do like the idea of him trying.

    9. Dylan O’Brien, co-writer.

Okay, well, technically he just wrote one scene, but we can dream, right?

In all seriousness, Dylan O’Brien writing a scene for Teen Wolf is like a stranger walking up to you and handing you a puppy for free. They didn’t have to do it, but now that they have, there’s no way you’re giving it back. We’re sure that O’Brien’s comic genius is going to be infused into every line of that wonderful scene, and if fans were excited about more Scott and Stiles bromance, they’ll be even more rabid for it now that they know who penned one of those scenes.

    7. Stiles and Lydia getting closer.

While quite a few fans are still pulling for Stydia to happen, we think a lot are glad they’re going to become friends first this season. Lydia probably didn’t even know Stiles’ name at the beginning of season 1, and now they’ve been thrown together into the supernatural world. They’re sure to start bonding.

But don’t get your hopes up for some romance. Lydia is still in love with Jackson, even though he skipped town, and Stiles is determined to move on from Lydia in season 3. While that is a bit disappointing on both fronts, it’ll be nice to see them on the same level this year.

What The Hell Is A Stiles?

“Teen Wolf” Season 3 has many twists and turns in store, but one constant we can always rely on is that Stiles Stilinski will remain the same ol’ goofball we’ve come to know and love. The Robin to Scott’s Batman, Stiles has been a loyal friend to many across two seasons, and in the video package below, the cast can’t help but smile as they think back on all of his neck-jerking, vending machine-tipping follies. Being a liability is fun!

“I forget about him sometimes,” Holland Roden jokes. “I think that most people do.” Sorry, Holland, but not us! Stiles has made quite an impact on Beacon Hills and beyond, and for new cast member Adelaide Kane, his personality is a key element to the show’s success. “With all the supernatural craziness, you really do need somebody who’s kind of goofy,” the actress who’s set to play Cora says. Dylan O’Brien, on the other hand, thinks Stiles’ appeal is that you just can’t shake him.

“I like to look as Stiles as being like the best friend that I always wanted,” he says. “He’s like having a dog by your side. He’s always there for you even if you forget to feed him.”

Check out the video, and hang tight — “Teen Wolf” is only ONE MONTH away!

Dylan O’Brien Lands Leading Role In ‘The Maze Runner’

*Sigh* They grow up so fast! Our very own Dylan O’Brien of “Teen Wolf” is about to take Hollywood by storm, ladies and Gs. This morning, Deadline confirmed that the actor behind Stiles Stilinski (and part-time James Dean lookalike) landed the starring role of Thomas in the movie adaptation of the hit YA book trilogy, “The Maze Runner.” So much for being typecast as the best friend!

For those not familiar with the upcoming blockbuster franchise, it’s a “Hunger Games”-style dystopian sci-fi saga, in which a group of teenagers wakes up in a maze, with no recollection of how they got there, or where they came from. The film is being penned by former “Buried Life” Executive Producer Noah Oppenheim (keepin’ it in the family!) and also stars British “Skins” alum, Kayla Scodelario (kinda keepin’ it in the family!) as Thomas’ best friend and the sole girl in the maze.

We’re sorry to report that you’ll have to wait almost a year for the film’s release — Valentine’s Day 2014 — but at least you’ve got a whole season of “Teen Wolf” to chew on while you wait for Dylan’s big-screen debut! June 3: Be there.
